Limits and Rules for Transfers to China: What to Know in 2026

Current limits

Transfers to UnionPay cards via Unired are subject to limits: up to 5,000 USD equivalent per transaction to China (3,000 USD for other countries) and up to 10,000 USD total per day. These limits are set by payment system requirements and currency regulations, and they are the same for every user.

For most needs — supporting family, paying for tuition, settling with small wholesale suppliers — these limits are enough.

The SAFE technical break: why money "waits" at night

SAFE is China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange, through which all incoming transfers pass. Every day from 23:00 to 09:00 Beijing time (21:00–07:00 Tashkent time), the system closes for a technical break. Transfers sent during this window aren't lost: they're credited automatically as soon as the system reopens.

Practical tip: if your transfer is urgent, send it between 07:00 and 21:00 Tashkent time — then crediting takes a second.

What documents are needed

For transfers within the limits, identification in the Unired app is enough — you enter your passport details once at registration. No certificates, declarations, or justifications are required for personal transfers. All operations go through a bank licensed by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and are fully legal.

What happens if you exceed the limit

The app simply won't let you send an amount above the limit — it's impossible to make a mistake. If you need to send more, split the amount across several days or use a bank SWIFT transfer for the larger portion.
